About Friends of Auburn Library
With a membership of over 400, Friends of Auburn Library is an active library supporter. FOL provides annual funding to -
- Add books and audio/visual material to the library collection.
- Provide full funding for children’s summer programs, such as Wild Things, Auburn Symphony, magicians, prizes in the reading program.
- Give financial support to PALS, the adult literacy program.
- Provide bus transportation for area schools’ 5th grade visits to the library to become acquainted with our library and to learn how to use it.
- Provide full funding for supplies used in the adult reading program.
FOL also sponsors one of the summer concerts held at the Library Garden Theater, the amphitheater next to the library.
FOL funding sources include monthly book sales, fundraising events, membership support, and donations.
In addition to funding the activities listed above, FOL has provided capital improvements like the Reference and Circulation Desk replacement, the tables and chairs for patrons in the main library, the tables, chairs, draperies, and carpeting in the Beecher Room.
FOL provides programs for children and adults, like a week-long Reading in the Classroom program during Children’s Book Week, collection displays in the glass cases in the main library, NOON programs, and bus trips to interesting places.
2009-2010 Board of DirectorsThe FOL Executive Board has 13 members; the full board has 22 members. Monthly board meetings are held at the Auburn Library, at 350 Nevada Street, in the Beecher room, on the third Monday of each month at 9 a.m. All community members are welcome to attend.
