Friday February 21, 2020 Ryan L. Kinnan Auburn Chief of Police Connecting with the Auburn Community.

In November 2018, Chief Ryan Kinnan was hired as the Auburn Police Department’s 18th Chief of Police.

Chief Kinnan began his career in law enforcement in 2000 with the Ventura Police Department after serving in the United States Marine Corps. In 2006, he was hired as a police officer in a start-up police department in Citrus Heights, and promoted to sergeant and then lieutenant.

While with the Citrus Heights Police Department, Chief Kinnan started a SWAT team, rising from an operator to Commander, started an award winning problem-oriented policing team, supervised the special investigations unit, managed the Department’s special operation unit including code enforcement and traffic, and was assigned to the professional standards unit.

A graduate of the FBI’s National Academy, Chief Kinnan has a Master’s of Public Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice.  He has four children and coaches youth sports.

We encourage you to bring a sack lunch and a friend and join us in the Beecher Room at the Auburn Library.   The noon to 1pm event is always the first and third Fridays each month except in September and January (third only) and December (first only) from September to May.
